This wonderful month of January, our featured coffee is Jamaica Blue Mountain.
Now this isn’t just any ordinary coffee bean. Blue Mountain Coffee has a full flavored, balanced, prominent fruit flavors, acidity and provides all the satisfaction one could want with a strong and intense aroma. It has a very clean taste, with a noticeable sweetness. It is grown in the Blue Mountains in Jamaica, hence the name, and has a reputation that has made it one of the most expensive and sought-after coffees in the world.
The climate where the beans are grown is cool and misty with high rainfall. The soil is rich, with excellent drainage. This combination of climate and soil is considered ideal for coffee.
The coffee has blue-green color, good acidity, intense aroma, fairly good body, clean. The beans are broken up into these three different categories:
Blue Mountain No. 1 Beans of Screen 17/18 sizes with maximum defects of 2% and maximum of 4% smaller (lower case) beans.
Blue Mountain No. 2 Beans of Screen 16 sizes with maximum defects of 2% and a maximum of 4% smaller (lower case) beans.
Blue Mountain Peaberry Beans from single seed berries with Screen 10s size. Maximum of 2% defects and a maximum of 4% smaller (lower case) beans.
We are always searching for the best coffee around and I would have to say that this coffee is in the top 5! And who doesn’t love Jamaica! 🙂

“December 2012 Featured Coffee”
What do monks have to do with coffee?!? Well monks have a long tradition in brewing alcoholic beverages like beer and wine. It seems only natural they move on to other endeavors and the Carmelite Monks in wyoming have done just that! It has been my personal experience that monestary brewed beverages are among some of the finest in the world. Monks tend to have a special kind of patience and quality driven attitude that sets them apart from their often production driven competitors. Mystic Monk Coffee has many different kinds of coffee from smooth medium roasts, extra dark-extra bold, to many flavored varieties. Their site is very user friendly and priced very nicely. Take a look around and Im sure you’ll find something you will like.
